With effect from 1 Janury 2010 the following change will be made to the rules:

Championships

The Road and Carriage Dog Championship and Grooms Award may only be won from the Gold class and may only be awarded to a dog with an obedience score of 375 or more and a vet score of 75 or more.

Coaching Certificates

These will be re-named:

Carriage Dog Certificate

Carriage Dog Exercises

Stay: The groom must dismount and go to the horse’s head for the duration of the stay.

Stay (GH): The Groom Handler must dismount and go to the horse’s head for the duration of the stay.

Road Dog Exercises

Recall: The dog must be left in a stay in the Silver and Gold classes.

Hock: Will include a section at walk in the Silver and Gold classes.

Speed: The dog need not work in the hock position but must be safe and should not precede the horse.

Road and Carriage Dog Stays

These will be: Bronze 1 minute Silver 1½ minutes Gold 2 minutes

Competitors shall remain mounted on carriage or horse for the duration of the exercises, with the exception of groom handlers in the stay.

Qualification Only

Dogs entered for Qualification Only will not be awarded a place in their class, or qualify for any special awards.

Equipment

Dogs may wear a smooth collar or harness. Boots may not be worn. Muzzles may not be worn.

Bitches with Whelps

No bitch that has whelped 90 days prior to the day of the trials may compete.

Extra Groom

Groom Handler turnouts may carry an extra groom if required; this groom may not handle the dog in any way.
